Affiliate Marketing is a popular form of online advertising where an advertiser pays based on the performance of the advert for a chosen action such as a click through, lead or sale. Other website owners may sign up for affiliate schemes and earn money for customers they refer.
The beauty of affiliate marketing is that you can earn money without the hassles of having your own product or service. You're earning money without the headaches of stock, distribution, customer service and so on. It's seen as a fair form of marketing as those websites that generate high numbers of sales or leads are rewarded with large payments while those that don't deliver any results don't get paid.
Since the advent of affiliate marketing many work at home opportunities have highlighted the earning potential on offer and suggested huge sums of money can be made. While this is theoretically true most people who have aimed to make a fortune with affiliate marketing will still be struggling to make a decent profit.
The key reason most sites relying on affiliate links to earn their revenue fail is because they rely too much on the affiliate links and not on creating a unique website of their own. Consumers have become very media savvy and are often wary of blatant adverts. Click through rates from online banners are extremely low and smarter methods of engaging a customer is required. This can be achieved by creating a website with lots of unique and useful content that gets updated on a regular basis. The content should be relevant to the affiliate links you use. For example, if you wanted to make money from a mortgage broker affiliate scheme you could include an article on the benefits of mortgage brokers and how to pick a good one. At the end of the article an affiliate text link could allow people to request an appointment with a local mortgage broker which would in turn earn you a commission. If you simply create a page with banners for mortgage brokers your site offers no value and is unlikely to create a following. Having unique and relevant content for your affiliate links will not only increase the conversion rate on your page it will also attract more people to your website as the search engines love fresh and unique content.
Another common mistake is to try and cover too much. Many people think they will earn more by signing up to hundreds of different affiliate schemes. The reality is you are much better off creating a site targeting a particular topic. For example, you could create a website hosting comparison website or a electronic product review website. Both of these examples add value and create a reason for a customer to visit your site first rather than direct to the advertisers' website. Remember that content is king; keep it unique, fresh and relevant to your affiliate links. You will attract more visitors and will boost your conversions by leading them towards the action you need them to take such as making a purchase. Done right there is no reason why you can't earn a substantial income from affiliate marketing.

MLM Lead Generation Using a Funded Proposal
Beginners to multi-level marketing (MLM) always have a cash crunch at first. Money is tight, budgets are short and patience is a virtue. The mistake that most people make is expecting to see a massive profit immediately. To tell you the truth, that will probably not happen.
You will need a way of raising some cash while you build your list. The question you should be asking right now is "How do I do that?" This is where a funded proposal makes it's center stage appearance.
A funded MLM proposal is a simple concept. Offer a low cost product or service on the front of the offer. Then you build some trust and rapport with the visitor/client. Finally, you offer your "main" product or service on the back end. Many MLMers do this with great success and you can, too.
The funded proposal helps in two areas. First, it acts as a list builder. As people take advantage of the initial offer you make, they are added to your mailing list. This is what is known as lead generation. Second, they put a little cash in your pocket to offset advertising costs. This is what makes it a "funded" proposal.
Now we need to go over how you can get people to see your offer. There are several free ways to do this.
Safe lists. This is probably the lowest cost option you will have. A great portion of them are free to join but there are paid ones as well. The members of a safe list agree to receive ads from other people on the list. In exchange, they get to send their own ads. Free members send only to other free members while paid members send ads to other paid members in addition to the free members. It should be easy to see why a paid safe list would be more responsive. The paying members are serious about their business and they are more likely to actually read your ad.
So how can you use this method? Send your ad as often as the list allows. Create several different versions of the ad and keep track of what works and what doesn't. In this way, you will have a good feel for which campaigns to use in other advertising mediums. Along the way, you pick up some great leads and possibly some cash to boot.
Traffic exchanges These are another low cost option. Basically, you post your splash or landing page in a rotating system. You agree to view other people's ads and you are given credits. The credits are used to display your page to the membership. Usually, for every two or three ads that you view, your ad is shown once. The good thing about this is that actual peoples see the ad, thus you have more chance of a conversion.
Again, this can be used for your funded proposal. Like above, create several different ads and watch what works. Since you have real people seeing the ad in real time, you can get a good idea what prompts a visitor to click your offer. Thus you have a gauge to use when you take your campaign to the next level. Once more, you generate some leads and make some money along the way.

I'm sure his intention is noble: to remove irrelevant links from the serps. But has he gone too far? Judging by the firestorm of protest in the blogosphere, that may be the case.
There are certainly paid links that affect search result quality, and Google has every right to deal with those. But to say that human-reviewed, relevant paid links will be punished is another situation entirely. That makes it look like Google is flexing its muscles as the dominant search engine to take out competitors of its own text ad program.'

Domain Naming - get it right
When selecting a domain name that fits your site best, you have to decide which top-level domain you want to have.
So ask yourself, do you absolutely need “.com” in your domain name, as many prefer, or are you okay with “.net” or “.biz”? Since “.com” is recognized worldwide as the domain name of business, you will most likely want to stick with it.
Opinions among SEO experts are divided about whether to include keywords in your domain. But if you are building a small content site in a very specific niche, including keywords in the domain can increase clickthroughs to your site. After all, if you are searching for tiny toys for your pet Chihuahua, aren’t you more likely to click on a search engine listing called TinyDogStuff.com than a more generic sounding name?
The key is to do your research in order to find the right domain name for your site that isn’t already owned by someone else. And use a reputable registrar: GoDaddy.com and other domain name registrars enable you to look up possible domain names so you can eliminate options, as well as to register a domain name.
Remember that some merchants forbid you from using certain keywords in a domain name. The same holds true for trademarks. Never assume that “common” words are not trademarked - you might be surprised. The best way to cover your bases is to read over your affiliate agreement, as well as the terms and conditions of the program, very carefully before you decide on a domain that includes keywords.
You should also think about whether you are okay with inserting hyphens or possibly adjusting the spelling of your domain. TinyDogToys.com may be taken, but TinyDogToyz.com may not. Just remember not to confuse your audience. If you have to adjust the spelling significantly, perhaps you’ll want to brainstorm a little more.

I just found this article and wanted to share it with my readers - some good advice here. Enjoy!
How I Got More Clicks With Google Adsense. I run a norwegian site called. The main focus on the site is to manage all my favourite links in one place and give the visitors my best site tips on the Net. The second focus on this site is to get visitors from search enignes into the site for a certain topic and lead them to nice sites.
How to get money for running this site? I tried many ways to get money, but found google Adsense to be easiest way. What I did wrong when placing the ads. My first mistake was to place the ads away from the content. About 2% of all visitors clicked on the google ads, but I wanted more. This is what I did: 1. I made a Custom palette with my site's own colors. Background-color, text-color and link-color. This made the ads more blended into the site. 2. I moved the ads from the right section of site to the middle. Firstly at the top of the page, secondly I places them inline of the articles leading text and the main text.
3. Waited…
4. Got the site's click-rates up to 10-15 %. This means that 10-15% of all visitors clicks an ad. The only problem on this norwegian sites is that the ads itself vary on relevant quality. Norway is a small market, You may do better of on a international site with more relevant ads. Good luck!

Seven Steps to AdSense Profits
Success with AdSense can feel as if money is falling from the sky, and there are plenty boasting of their adsense mega earnings. While most people cannot emulate everything the Super AdSense earners do… there are many winning ideas you can use for high clickthrough rates.
Here are 7 Required Steps you can take today to copy their success..
1) Treat your AdSense business as a REAL business and track what you do.
Begin tracking what you are doing that works… as well as what you are doing that does not work. This will keep you from making the same mistakes over and over, and you can repeat the steps that have worked in the past. As simple as this step seems… most people do not know the reason(s) to their success or failure.
2) Utilize the latest tools and software available.
The Super AdSense earners are not any smarter than your average person. I know many people think they are… but for the most part, they are regular non techie people. They are smarter in one respect though… they use the latest tools available to them to automate most of the tasks involved with researching and creating sites. They use the latest keyword, site creation and search engine optimization tools available. The tools they use are their secret weapons.
3) Quit chasing the Mega Dollar keywords.

You may get lucky for awhile… but in the long run, you are better off building sites for the low to mid range payout keywords. The competition is less and your chance of success is much higher over the long term.
4) Choose broad niches and break them down.
Choose a broad subject as your main theme (computers for example). From there… break it down into as many sub niches as possible. You could build sub niches/sites like laptop computers, computer hard drives, computer keyboards, etc, etc. You could literally build hundreds of sites around one major theme and stay totally focused. Once you have exhausted every possible sub niche of that major theme… choose another main theme and repeat the process.
5) KISS
Keep your sites easy to navigate and forget the fancy graphics that distract your visitor's attention. Unless you are just building AdSense sites for the fun of it and to impress your friends… the purpose of having the site is to have people click on one of the ads, right? Then keep the site layout simple… dump the scrolling banners, dancing chickens and colored scroll bars… they are distractions.
6) What is the purpose of your web site?
Your web site cannot be everything to everybody. If you have a full fledged ecommerce site, with products for sale… links to other products, it is not a good site for AdSense. If the primary focus of the site is to sell products… let it do that. Do not distract or confuse your visitor with to many options or choices. The best AdSense sites are AdSense only content sites that sell nothing. They are sites that "Tell"… not "Sell."
7) Be consistent.
This is not one of those deals where you build one site and you are done. Refer back to Step 4. You must build continually in order to be successful. Think of it as planting a crop that you will harvest in a month or two, and the sites you build are seeds. Once the seeds have grown and matured… you will reap the harvest. The more seeds you plant… the larger the harvest.
To sum it up… utilize the tools available to automate as much of the process of building sites - doing research and building keyword lists as you can. This alone will help keep you organized and on track. Be consistent in building. Treat it like the business it is and you will reap the rewards of your harvest.

I have been helping my friend set up a new website. Hours spent checking the HTML, choosing the right
keywords for SEO. Less than two weeks later all that work is lost. The Web Hosting company c**ked up one of his domain transfers and as a result his sites were offline for over a week. He was so exasperated that he cancelled the hosting contract and changed hosts. BUT the domain name was included in the hosting package and he cannot take it across with him. Moral: 1. do not put all your eggs in one basket. 2. Use a reliable hosting company that will register your domain to YOU. [Link]

How I Got More Clicks With Google Adsense. I run a norwegian site called. The main focus on the site is to manage all my favourite links in one place and give the visitors my best site tips on the Net. The second focus on this site is to get visitors from search enignes into the site for a certain topic and lead them to nice sites.
How to get money for running this site? I tried many ways to get money, but found google Adsense to be easiest way. What I did wrong when placing the ads. My first mistake was to place the ads away from the content. About 2% of all visitors clicked on the google ads, but I wanted more. This is what I did: 1. I made a Custom palette with my site's own colors. Background-color, text-color and link-color. This made the ads more blended into the site. 2. I moved the ads from the right section of site to the middle. Firstly at the top of the page, secondly I places them inline of the articles leading text and the main text.
3. Waited…
4. Got the site's click-rates up to 10-15 %. This means that 10-15% of all visitors clicks an ad. The only problem on this norwegian sites is that the ads itself vary on relevant quality. Norway is a small market, You may do better of on a international site with more relevant ads. Good luck!

Here are 7 Required Steps you can take today to copy their success..
1) Treat your AdSense business as a REAL business and track what you do.
Begin tracking what you are doing that works… as well as what you are doing that does not work. If the primary focus of the site is to sell products… let it do that. Do not distract or confuse your visitor with to many options or choices. 7) Be consistent.
This is not one of those deals where you build one site and you are done. Refer back to Step 4. You must build continually in order to be successful. Think of it as planting a crop that you will harvest in a month or two, and the sites you build are seeds. Once the seeds have grown and matured… you will reap the harvest. How I Got More Clicks With Google Adsense. I run a norwegian site called. The main focus on the site is to manage all my favourite links in one place and give the visitors my best site tips on the Net. The second focus on this site is to get visitors from search enignes into the site for a certain topic and lead them to nice sites.
How to get money for running this site? I tried many ways to get money, but found google Adsense to be easiest way. What I did wrong when placing the ads. My first mistake was to place the ads away from the content. About 2% of all visitors clicked on the google ads, but I wanted more. This is what I did: 1. I made a Custom palette with my site's own colors. Background-color, text-color and link-color. This made the ads more blended into the site. 2. I moved the ads from the right section of site to the middle. Firstly at the top of the page, secondly I places them inline of the articles leading text and the main text.
3. Waited…
4. Got the site's click-rates up to 10-15 %. This means that 10-15% of all visitors clicks an ad. The only problem on this norwegian sites is that the ads itself vary on relevant quality. Norway is a small market, You may do better of on a international site with more relevant ads. Good luck!

1) Treat your AdSense business as a REAL business and track what you do.

This is not one of those deals where you build one site and you are done. Refer back to Step 4. You must build continually in order to be successful. Think of it as planting a crop that you will harvest in a month or two, and the sites you build are seeds. Once the seeds have grown and matured… you will reap the harvest. The more seeds you plant… the larger the harvest.

How I Got More Clicks With Google Adsense. I run a norwegian site called. The main focus on the site is to manage all my favourite links in one place and give the visitors my best site tips on the Net. The second focus on this site is to get visitors from search enignes into the site for a certain topic and lead them to nice sites.
How to get money for running this site? I tried many ways to get money, but found google Adsense to be easiest way. What I did wrong when placing the ads. My first mistake was to place the ads away from the content. About 2% of all visitors clicked on the google ads, but I wanted more. This is what I did: 1. I made a Custom palette with my site's own colors. Background-color, text-color and link-color. This made the ads more blended into the site. 2. I moved the ads from the right section of site to the middle. Firstly at the top of the page, secondly I places them inline of the articles leading text and the main text.
3. Waited…
4. Got the site's click-rates up to 10-15 %. This means that 10-15% of all visitors clicks an ad. The only problem on this norwegian sites is that the ads itself vary on relevant quality. Norway is a small market, You may do better of on a international site with more relevant ads. Good luck!

Seven Steps to AdSense Profits
Success with AdSense can feel as if money is falling from the sky, and there are plenty boasting of their adsense mega earnings. While most people cannot emulate everything the Super AdSense earners do… there are many winning ideas you can use for high clickthrough rates.
Here are 7 Required Steps you can take today to copy their success..
1) Treat your AdSense business as a REAL business and track what you do.
Begin tracking what you are doing that works… as well as what you are doing that does not work. This will keep you from making the same mistakes over and over, and you can repeat the steps that have worked in the past. As simple as this step seems… most people do not know the reason(s) to their success or failure.
2) Utilize the latest tools and software available.
The Super AdSense earners are not any smarter than your average person. I know many people think they are… but for the most part, they are regular non techie people. They are smarter in one respect though… they use the latest tools available to them to automate most of the tasks involved with researching and creating sites. Unless you are just building AdSense sites for the fun of it and to impress your friends… the purpose of having the site is to have people click on one of the ads, right? Then keep the site layout simple… dump the scrolling banners, dancing chickens and colored scroll bars… they are distractions.
6) What is the purpose of your web site?
Your web site cannot be everything to everybody. If you have a full fledged ecommerce site, with products for sale… links to other products, it is not a good site for AdSense. If the primary focus of the site is to sell products… let it do that. Do not distract or confuse your visitor with to many options or choices. The best AdSense sites are AdSense only content sites that sell nothing. They are sites that "Tell"… not "Sell."
7) Be consistent.
This is not one of those deals where you build one site and you are done. Refer back to Step 4. You must build continually in order to be successful. Think of it as planting a crop that you will harvest in a month or two, and the sites you build are seeds. Once the seeds have grown and matured… you will reap the harvest. The more seeds you plant… the larger the harvest.

Why are some authors doing so much better than others? We've discovered seven key mistakes that most ebook authors make (and in doing so, hold themselves back from major success):
1. They don't write to a specific, target audience.
The biggest mistake most ebook authors make is they don't clearly define, identify and visualize who they are selling their ebook to. On the Web, to be successful, you must write to a specific group of people who have specific interests. Make sure that you know exactly who is going to buy your ebook, and where you can find them online.
2. They don't automate as many of their business activities as possible.
Selling ebooks, though it is highly profitable, is not a business where you make hundreds of dollars per sale. Automate everything you can - credit card processing, ebook delivery, as much technical support as possible. If you can't automate a function, delegate it to someone else.
3. They don't have a compelling title for their ebook.
Use words that convey the benefit of what's in the ebook, as well as words your audience is familiar with. A bad title for an ebook: "Online Marketing for Newbies." A good title for the same ebook: "97 Ways to Promote Your Website - No Experience Required."
4. They try to cover too much ground.
Many ebook authors convey a lot of information but don't cover anything in-depth. As a result, they never fully explain anything in enough detail to provide any useful value to their readers. This is a very bad mistake to make, especially when it comes to how-to ebooks, which happen to be the best type to write.
5. They are not proactive in their marketing.
It would be nice if marketing for your ebook simply happened on its own - but it doesn't. You have to do it yourself. After you've promoted your ebook to the people on your own mailing list (if you have one), then you have to contact other Website owners and persuade them to be your affiliates. You should do this continually.
6. They don't differentiate their ebook from its competitors.
When you choose your topic, even if there are a hundred other ebooks out there on the same general subject, choose an angle for yours that will make it easy for yours to be distinguished from the others.
For example, right now job-hunting ebooks are very popular. There are dozens that are big sellers. "Secrets of Breaking Into Pharmaceutical Sales" has a very specific title that sets it apart from the competition, and is aimed at a clearly identified target audience. Incidentally, it's selling very well itself.
7. They write ebooks that nobody will pay for.
Many ebook authors write about information that either people can get for free, or that people are not actually interested in enough to pay for the information. Before you invest weeks or months into the writing of your ebook, invest a little time investigating whether other ebooks in the same subject area are selling on the Web.
So, there you have it - the seven big mistakes to avoid. Remember, the opportunities are plentiful - and huge - right now for anyone who wants to become a best-selling ebook author. Simply use common sense, follow our advice, and let your literary career flourish!
